LAMBDA i8 Device

The Lambda i8 is a third-party induction device that runs Terea sticks. It costs less than official hardware and does two things no IQOS device does: it lets you set the heating temperature, and it lets you set the session length.

It also carries no Philip Morris warranty and no app. Both sides of that are covered below, because it is the honest comparison rather than the feature list that tells you whether this suits you.

Choose your colour

Six finishes on a CNC-machined aluminium body.

• Black — matte black, hides marks, the biggest seller.
• Grey — gunmetal tone that suits the aluminium best. Shows fingerprints less than gold or white.
• Red — deep automotive red with metallic depth.
• Green — deep forest tone, the most understated of the six.
• Gold — warm champagne rather than brassy. The boldest option.
• White — bright off-white, sharp when new, shows marks more readily.

The device inside is identical in every one.

Adjustable temperature

The i8 heats anywhere between 200 and 300°C, set on the device display.

No IQOS device offers this. Every official model heats at one fixed temperature that Philip Morris sets, and no app setting changes it.

The difference is noticeable. Lower settings give a lighter, cooler draw that suits menthols and the lighter tobacco sticks. Higher settings pull more body out of the fuller blends. Once you find your number the device holds it, so this is a setup decision rather than something you fiddle with daily.

Adjustable session time

Sessions run from three to six minutes, again set on the device.

Official ILUMA and ILUMA i devices are fixed at fourteen puffs or six minutes. FlexPuff on the ILUMA i range can add a few puffs automatically, but you cannot shorten a session or lengthen one deliberately.

Three minutes suits a quick break outside. Six matches a full cigarette. It is particularly useful if you are switching over and want shorter sessions at first while you adjust.

Battery

3200 mAh, giving 35 to 40 sessions on a full charge, with charging taking around 2.5 hours over USB-C.

For context, ILUMA One gives twenty uses from 1728 mAh and ILUMA i One twenty from 2700 mAh. The i8 roughly doubles both, which in practice means charging every other day rather than every day.

Capacity is the clearest single thing this device wins on.

Build

The body is CNC-machined aluminium alloy, with PPSU and PEEK used internally for the heat-facing parts. Both are engineering plastics chosen for heat resistance rather than cost, which matters in a device reaching 300°C repeatedly.

It weighs 83 grams and measures 102.8 x 28.9 x 20.8 mm. Heavier than ILUMA One at 68.5 grams, though the metal is the reason and most owners count that as a gain rather than a cost.

Heating is non-contact induction, the same principle as the official ILUMA range. The coil sits sealed inside the stick, so nothing touches the tobacco and there is nothing to clean at any point.

• You want control over the experience — temperature and session length are yours to set, which no official device allows.
• Battery life matters most — 35 to 40 sessions against twenty.
• You want to spend less — this is the cheapest route to running Terea sticks.
• You already own an official device — the i8 works well as a second device for travel or the car.

Buy an official device instead if warranty and service matter to you, or if you want Autostart and the ILUMA i feature set.

Important: which sticks it takes

The Lambda i8 runs TEREA and Sentia Smartcore sticks only. It will not heat Heets, because it uses induction and has no blade.

Several listings in the UAE claim this device is Heets compatible, and at least one sells it under a Heets product name. That is incorrect, and Lambda states so directly on its own product page. If you smoke Heets, you need a blade device and this is not one.
