LAMBDA i9 Device

The Lambda i9 is a third-party induction device that runs Terea sticks. It shares the Lambda platform with the i8, and adds an OLED display and a built-in cleaning cycle on top of it.

Like every device in the range, it does two things no official IQOS device does: it lets you set the heating temperature, and it lets you set how long a session lasts.

Choose your colour

Six finishes, identical device inside each.

• Black — matte black, hides marks, the biggest seller.
• Grey — gunmetal tone, shows fingerprints less than the brighter finishes.
• Green — deep forest tone, the most understated of the six.
• Red — deep automotive red with metallic depth.
• Gold — warm champagne rather than brassy. The one meant to be seen.
• Silver — brightest of the six, closest to the bare machined surface.

What separates the i9 from the i8

Being straight about this, because the two devices share more than most listings admit.

Battery, temperature range, session control, charging time and dimensions are the same on both. 3200 mAh, 200 to 300°C, three to six minutes, around 2.5 hours to charge, 35 to 40 sessions.

What the i9 adds is an OLED display in place of the standard LED readout, and a built-in automatic cleaning cycle. If those two things do not matter to you, the Lambda i8 delivers the same performance for less, and we would rather tell you that than sell you the more expensive one.

The OLED display

It shows temperature, battery level and session duration together, with better contrast than a standard LED readout.

That matters more than it sounds on a device where you actually change settings. Reading a screen outdoors in Dubai sun is the difference between adjusting something quickly and squinting at it, and the i9 is easier to use in daylight because of it.

The cleaning cycle

Induction heating already avoids the residue problem that affects blade devices, since nothing ever touches the tobacco.

What the automatic cycle handles is the stick chamber itself, where fragments can collect over months of use. It runs on the device without brushes or cleaning sticks.

No official ILUMA or ILUMA i device has a cleaning cycle, because they are designed not to need one.

Adjustable temperature

The i9 heats anywhere between 200 and 300°C, set on the display. No IQOS device offers this at all; they run one fixed temperature with no user control.

Lower settings give a cooler, lighter draw that suits menthols and the milder tobacco sticks. Higher settings pull more body out of the fuller blends.

Most people find their number in the first week and leave it there, so this is a setup decision rather than something you adjust daily.

Adjustable session time

Sessions run from three to six minutes, again set on the device.

Official ILUMA and ILUMA i devices are fixed at fourteen puffs or six minutes. FlexPuff on the i range can add a few puffs automatically, but you cannot shorten a session or choose its length.

Three minutes suits a quick break, six matches a full cigarette, and a shorter setting is easier to adapt to when you are first switching over.

Battery

3200 mAh, giving 35 to 40 sessions on a full charge, with charging taking around 2.5 hours over USB-C.

For comparison, ILUMA One gives twenty uses from 1728 mAh and ILUMA i One twenty from 2700 mAh.

In practice that means charging every other day rather than every day, and it remains the clearest measurable advantage Lambda devices hold over official hardware.

What you give up

No Philip Morris warranty. Lambda is a third-party manufacturer. Any cover comes from us as the retailer, and an IQOS boutique will not repair or replace it.

No IQOS app. No usage tracking, no firmware updates, no device locator.

No Autostart, Pause Mode or FlexPuff. Those are official ILUMA and ILUMA i features. Adjustable session time covers some of the same ground but is not the same thing.

If a manufacturer warranty and a service network matter to you, buy official hardware. If capacity and control matter more, the Lambda range makes a strong case.

Which sticks it takes

The Lambda i9 works with TEREA and Sentia Smartcore sticks. It will not heat Heets or any blade-device stick, because it uses induction heating with no blade.

Worth flagging clearly: several UAE listings advertise Lambda devices as Heets compatible. That is incorrect. Heets require a blade device that pierces the stick, and no Lambda induction model has one.
