Emerald pairs Indonesian clove with crisp menthol cooling and a fermented green fruit note that gives it a slightly sour edge. That sourness is unusual and it is what makes the stick recognisable within two puffs.
Fermented is the accurate word rather than fresh. The fruit reads closer to green apple that has been left to develop than anything picked ripe, which keeps it tart instead of sweet.
Underneath, the tobacco stays mellow and the clove holds a steady spice. Neither pushes forward, which leaves the green fruit and the cooling working together at the front.
The tartest stick in the Edition line. Berrine takes the same clove and menthol base towards floral instead, and Minago goes green with mint rather than sourness.
